4. How to develop adaptability at office.
In order to know how to adapt, it is necessary to follow certain changes or tips that are absolutely necessary to be able to adapt to changes, both at work and in the personal sphere. Here is a selection of some of them
- Everything is constantly changing
Human beings need a certain security in order to live in peace, and so we create the illusion of permanence, that everything is static and nothing changes, but this is not the case. Everything is constantly changing, including us, but we are not aware of it until the change is so evident that we have no choice but to face it.
- Avoid denial of change
In this situation, there are people who deny change, who protest and rage because things are no longer the way they are. Others, on the contrary, act as if nothing has changed, oblivious to everything that is happening around them.
Either of these two attitudes is counterproductive, because it will not allow us to do what will help us to overcome change: to adapt to it.
- Practice mental flexibility
Just as a bird changes course when a storm approaches, we must be flexible enough to reprogram our lives to adapt to new circumstances. We must analyse what has changed and what modifications we need to make in our behaviour or what we need to learn in order to adapt to it.
- Do mindfulness and meditation exercises.
In the case of circumstances beyond our control, in which we cannot intervene, in this case it is necessary to keep calm, foreseeing possible solutions as the scenario in which we move changes. To keep ourselves in the right state of relaxation, we can try breathing exercises to calm our anxiety.
- Learn to accept change
The cornerstone of the ability to adapt to change is to accept it. When an aspect of our life undergoes a change (for example, we have moved to another country or we have a new job) it does not usually return to its previous state, so, whether we want to or not, we must accept this new situation. As we have seen above, denying change only causes discomfort and anxiety. Take a positive attitude and assimilate your new reality.
